Blackwater Eco Tours is a community-based, not-for-profit ecotourism business located in Villierstown, Co. Waterford, that provides eco pod lodging, river activities, and walking paths in the Blackwater River Valley.
The River Blackwater has been declared a ‘Special Area of Conservation’ and is home to numerous bird species such as Kingfishers, Peregrine Falcons, Egrits, and Herons, as well as other animals such as otters. Our goal is to promote environmental awareness and sustainability in this beautiful West Waterford retreat via conservation, community, and education.
We have four Eco Pods in the heart of town. Each pod has a kitchenette, shower, and toilet and can accommodate four people or a family of five. There is also a picnic area and BBQ amenities at the pods.
Villierstown Quay and Boat House are only a few minutes’ walk from the pods, where you may enjoy the natural splendour of the Blackwater River. A 90-minute guided trip on our tour boat ‘Zingara,’ a self-drive option in which you may captain one of our boats yourself, and kayaking or canoeing are among our choices. We provide both regular and private excursions.
You may also explore the river valley on our forest walking paths, which run beside the river and in neighbouring Dromana Woods.
You may experience the unspoiled natural beauty and rich ancient history of the Blackwater River Valley with Blackwater Eco Tours, which is perfectly situated within the Munster Vales and Ireland’s Ancient East.
