Treasure trail of St. Albans

Vestibulum id ligula porta felis euismod semper. Duis mollis, est non commodo luctus, nisi erat porttitor ligula, eget lacinia odio sem nec elit.

Until very recently I’ve wanted to be a pirate, sailing around finding buried loot. I mean, who hasn’t at one time wanted to be a pirate, right? Luckily for us, St. Albans has just the thing. Introducing the Treasure trail of St. Albans.

The treasure trail is a great way to get kids outside working as a team, and also allows them to use their creativity and imagination! So come get down and check it out.

Modern-day pirates don’t need to rely on navigating using the stars or parchment maps like they do in the movies. Today, pirates use PDF files and GPS’s to navigate around. I have to admit, being a pirate today is a lot easier than before especially when your map is stuffed with handy hints and top tips which are sure to set you on the right course.

Some statues have clues hidden on them, along with landmarks and monuments to get our treasure hunters to pay attention to the amazing pieces of architecture! So keep those peepers peeled!

Normally the route takes around 2 hours to complete, but this depends on how quickly you can find the treasure! Regardless, you should have more than enough time for a lovely picnic, plus there are all sorts of lovely spots to pick from, like the historic Verulamium Park or by the Cathedral and its ancient clock tower. Just don’t forget to stop by the Roman museum.

All the trials are self-guided which means you can instantly download a trail from the website and immediately start your very own adventure. So when you’re ready to solve the clues and follow the trail download the map and get exploring on the day of your choosing. There is no need to phone us for opening details. All Trails are designed to be completed in daylight.

The trail is not marked as wheelchair accessible due to some stairs that you will encounter at the walled gardens. Although it is possible to access the garden via the far side if they decide to take a long detour via the street and then came back to it. Sadly these directions are not available on the route map but a quick google maps search and you can easily find it. Those with light pushchairs should find this manageable.
